Since 2013, Mercy Corps Northwest has hosted an annual holiday market specifically to support Oregon-based entrepreneurs in the most vital sales point of the year. In fact, up to 40 percent of yearly sales for small and mid-sized retailers take place within the last two months of the year.
This year is even more critical. Small business owners have been starkly impacted by the pandemic – most drastically with impacts to LGBTQIA+, women and people of color. Supporting small businesses in this timeframe is essential – and we’re committed to using our platforms to help make an impact.
Mercy Corps Northwest’s Small Business Services
Businesses with 5 or fewer employees make up 86% of all Oregon and Washington enterprises. Small businesses are essential, yet owners face unique challenges and are routinely denied access to conventional lending due to a lack of operating history, credit, and collateral.
Mercy Corps Northwest provides vital financing, mentorship and education to small business owners across the Pacific Northwest. From small business grants, to alternative loans, we've here to support entrepreneurs with the tools they need to succeed. We also host Oregon Women’s Business Center, one of its kind in the state, funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
